Frequently Asked Questions...

When does it start?

CSA pickup will begin sometime between the last week in May to the second week in June. The date is flexible due to the unpredictability of spring weather. Plant growth rates vary wildly at this time of year and a week of sun vs. a week of cloudy cool rain can really make a huge difference. I will send out an email letting folks know when CSA pickup will start.

What happens at a CSA pickup?

There will be 6-10 vegetables set up farmers’ market style. Example -   bunches of kale or chard, a bin of carrots, heads of cabbage,  etc. available each week for CSA members. You will bring along a reusable tote bag and select a portion appropriate to your size share (individual vs. family) of each vegetable. Portions for each share size will be clearly marked next to each vegetable. You may be asked to measure with a container, count or weigh out  the amount of some items in your share. I will be around during pickup hours to help in any way I can.

What do I do if I am out of town on my pickup day?

As much as I would love for everyone to come to the farm on their pickup day as much as possible I understand that life happens! Please email and give me a week notice (if possible) if you won’t be able to pick up your share, or if you need to switch your day for a particular week so I can plan the harvest accordingly. Another option is to give your share to a friend and have them pickup on your day!

What happens if I am running late to pickup?

Again don’t worry - your food and health should not be something that is stressful. If you are able please let me know asap. If there is an unclaimed share still out after the allotted pickup time I will consolidate it and likely leave the CSA barn pickup area to head back into the field or eat some lunch/dinner but will leave out your share for a little while. If you see me out and about feel free to flag me down and we can sort it out together.

Why are you an LLC?

I decided to form an LLC to help me stay organized and to force me to keep separate bank accounts. It is important for me to keep the business separate from my personal finances so I can better understand how the farm is doing fiscally. This structure also allows for partners to more easily come into the business which would allow for possible collaborative opportunities with friends and family to blossom in the future.
